Teaching at Wellesley College

At Wellesley, I teach courses on education policy, school-family-community relationships, and capstone seminars on urban education, immigration, and emancipatory research. Given our close proximity to Boston and a guiding belief that the community is our most valuable classroom, my students often gain valuable experiences in schools and community agencies as part of their course learning. I am a former elementary and middle school teacher; that experience guides my commitment to action-oriented research as well as teaching that integrates research and practice.

Courses Taught:

  • Youth, Family, Community, and Power

  • Ethnography in Education: Race, Migration, and Borders

  • Urban Education and Emancipatory Research

  • Race, Class, and Ethnicity in Education Policy

  • School and Society in Film
